First the price seemed a little low for something in that shape.

Second, there is only one picture for something that looks like the owner was quite into

third, a reverse GIS pulled up a forum on IH8mud.com and the image was on there from an auction site for the bumper.

I’d say it doesn’t seem legit.

I don’t really understand how these Craigslist scams are supposed to work though. Are they just a bait and swirch - you show up and find a clapped out POS? Do they mug you when you show up?

I see tins of ads with prices that sound way too good to be true with photos of cars parked amongst palm trees even though they are posted in locations in the upper Midwest. How does this work?

Chicago All Saints Hospital.

Just mail me a check. You can abbreviate the name, it’s kinda long.I’ll send the CrUiSeR LaNd via Western Unions.

Checks all the boxes:

Oddly specific price (and too low probably)

No details

Only one picture

Listing title is awful and includes “cruiser LAND”

No mention whatsoever of the obvious modifications

LOL

yeah, it was originally designed to get the air steam out of the dust to prevent clogged filters, but then it became synonymous with water crossings. For modern diesel touring rigs you can get into a lot of water related trouble before you need one and with gas engine the ignition system is more vulnerable than the intake is (in many cases) so for most people its just to show how badass you are.

Simply the gross lack of information tells you it is a scam. If I’m not sure I ask for a VIN number. If they post a phone#, just plug it in to Google search and see what turns up. Often the same number has several cars listed for sale with the same number.
